Oh goodness, lots of thoughts on these films. I adored “Kubo and the Two Strings”. I thought it was gorgeous, well animated, and a wonderful original film. The plot had some hiccups at the end but I highly encourage folks to go see it.
On the other hand I have to say while “War Dogs” got some laughs out of me in the theater, I felt like it was trying too hard to be a bigger “idea” film (a la “The Big Short”) than it ended up being.
Finally Ben-Hur. Why? This was the cherry on top of the cake that has been this entire summer that is “Why did this get made?!” Of all films to remake they chose Ben-Hur, Academy Award record holder for most Oscars for 39 years until Titanic rolled along… Just… Why?
