So much for 2017's strong start. This week brings the Ben Affleck penned/directed/starring vehicle "Live By Night" though also a beacon of hope in the form of "20th Century Women." It also happens to be an Elle Fanning double feature.
Normally a Ben Affleck film about Boston is a good thing, but unfortunately "Live By Night" is an unnecessary and self indulgent pet project that wastes a talented supporting cast.
"20th Century Women" is more a character study than a plot driven drama, and thankfully features strong performances from the fantastic females of the cast.
