KFOG REVIEW: “THE MUMMY” “MY COUSIN RACHEL” & “BAND AID”

Summer is heating up in the volume of releases, unfortunately “The Mummy” starring Tom Cruise is more of a wet blanket. “My Cousin Rachel” and “Band Aid” are thankfully more refreshing.

I’m not sure what Universal is intending with their kickoff to their Dark Universe, but having Tom Cruise headline “The Mummy” as their initial foray was probably not the best move. I’d have preferred to see Russell Crowe’s Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde as the intro to the series.

Also out this week are “My Cousin Rachel” the Victorian thriller starring Rachel Weisz, and “Band Aid” which was written, directed, and stars Zoe Lister-Jones.

Of all the films this week I recommend “Band Aid” as it was the most earnest and original of the bunch.
