9 THOR: RAGNAROK THOUGHTS – SPOILERS

If you can’t tell I’m a little obsessed with Thor: Ragnarok. While it’s a very enjoyable film it’s not perfect, and here are some thoughts that stuck with me after repeat viewings.

Contains spoilers.

1) We finally know where Nic Cage’s wig from the never made Tim Burton Superman Lives went. His wig hit peak grease levels in this film. If he appears again I hope the character takes a shower/ HMU artists dial it back.

2) Why would Thor say “Oh my god”? Wouldn’t “Oh me!” or “Oh Odin!” make more sense?

3) Did Chris Hemsworth or Westworld costar Anthony Hopkins get Luke Hemsworth the cameo? Let’s assume it was Chris…

4) So is Thor going to have an eyepatch in Avengers: Infinity War Part 1? Interesting they chose to give him two eyeballs in the trailers even though at this point in the film he’s missing an eye.

5) Did we really have to kill one of two Asian characters who have speaking roles in the MCU? Now all the pressure is on Benedict Wong of Doctor Strange. I’d really love to see Marvel incorporate more diversity. Black Panther is a great start in terms of overall diversity in the universe, but let’s not forget they keep casting some of the limited pool of Asian characters from the comics as white actors (I’m looking at you Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, and while it’s not technically MCU, Finn Jones as Iron Fist).

6) The three pointed trident that would be good for killing three vampires huddled together was such a squandered cameo/crossover for What We Do In The Shadows (which is also from director Taika Waititi).

7) So are we to assume Loki took the Tessaract while he was off inducing Ragnarok? Obviously it can’t be destroyed if Thanos needs it.

8) Can we please have a standalone Grandmaster film?

9) SUPER SPOILERS if you didn’t see the Comic-Con or D23 Avengers footage, highlight to read:
If Thor crash lands into the Milano, (where he also seems to have 2 eyes), are we to suppose Thanos immediately destroys the ship carrying all of the Asgardians? Or perhaps enslaves them?
