ICYMI: NETFLIX BROUGHT US THE MOST IMPORTANT ROYAL NEWS

While everyone was busy watching real life Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot yesterday, Netflix blessed us with the most important Royal news…. We’re getting a sequel to last year’s bizarre cult classic, A Christmas Prince!

Amber Moore (Rose McIver) and prince Richard (Ben Lamb) from “A Christmas Prince” – Netflix
Following just about every “commoner meets a Royal and they fall in love” template, A Christmas Prince followed the story of (the worst journalist ever) Amber Moore (Rose McIver) who is sent to the made up country of Aldovia to cover a press conference regarding the coronation of prince Richard (Ben Lamb). She poses as a private tutor to the prince’s younger sister, Emily (Honor Kneafsey, who’s probably the best part of the movie) to get the inside scoop.

The movie is wonderfully terrible. Amber does a stupid Carrie Bradshaw/Sex and the City style voiceover when writing up her notes. Her notes are worth an entire article on their own. No adult human who is working as a professional journalist should be taking such simplistic notes.

Amber’s note taking from “A Christmas Prince: A Royal Wedding” – Netflix
She also doesn’t know how to take a horizontal photo on her phone to save her life. Or properly hide things in a bedroom she doesn’t want found. There are a million more flaws with this movie but somehow it found success (and I won’t lie, it was so bad that I enjoyed it).
Needless to say a movie like this isn’t going to be a “Romeo and Juliet” style tragedy. Spoilers: The story ends in his proposing to her. And apparently soon after is where the sequel, A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding will pick up. Based on the trailer it sounds like they’re going real self aware with the sequel. Amber and Richard are spotted watching Meghan and Harry’s wedding. And don’t worry, Amber’s awful note taking style is back!

Netflix was also surprised by the success of the film it seems. But given the unexpected popularity they jumped on the sequel. I for one, can’t wait.
