KFOG REVIEW: “WHY HIM?” & “SILENCE”

I’ll close out the year with two incredibly different films, the Christmas comedy “Why Him?” starring James Franco and Bryan Cranston, and “Silence” the latest film by Martin Scorsese.

“Why Him?” is nothing spectatcular, I actually saw it back to back with “Office Christmas Party” a few weeks ago. I found it funnier than “OCP” and it actually made me want to go back and adjust the rating for that movie. However as time has passed I’ve also realized that neither were particularly great.

“Why Him?” does accomplish laughs, but it’s not going to be one for the history books.

Meanwhile Martin Scorsese is attempting to release his next one for the books, and in my opinion fails. Granted that’s just my opinion, and that’s not to say Martin Scorsese isn’t an incredibly talented film legend. I feel he got too blinded by exploring his own personal relationship with his faith, and forgot about the rest of us.

Or to look at it differently just didn’t care, he made this movie for him, and you can either go along for the ride, or be dragged through it (warning the run time is 2 hours and 41 minutes). While I wanted to go willingly, it very quickly became a tedious affair for me, more of why in the audio review.
