REVIEW: “I FEEL PRETTY” “SUPER TROOPERS 2” & “LEAN ON PETE”

This week brings three very different films with Amy Schumer’s “I Feel Pretty,” Broken Lizard’s “Super Troopers 2” and A24’s “Lean on Pete.” I can only in good conscience recommend one of them.

Amy Schumer’s “I Feel Pretty” features some mega comedy talent, but a premise that makes me slightly ill. To message out that women need brain damage in order to be happy with they are is not something I can support. It also features Michelle Williams, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Busy Philipps, Rory Scovel, Naomi Campbell, and Tom Hopper.

After a 17 year wait, Broken Lizard is back with “Super Troopers 2″… which is basically the same as “Super Troopers”… It stars Jay Chandrasekhar, Erik Stolahnske, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Kevin Heffernan, Brian Cox, Lynda Carter, Rob Lowe, and Emmanuelle Chriqui.

Finally there’s “Lean on Pete” which was a wonderful and moving look at the journey a young man (and his horse) take through an unexpected journey. Starring Charlie Plummer, Chloe Sevigny, Travis Fimmel, Steve Zahn, and Steve Buscemi, the film is beautifully acted and shot. Directed by Andrew Haigh
