Streaming reviews this week with “The High Note” “The Vast of Night” and “The Great.”
While “The High Note” is a little more middling than a high, it is still a safe feel good movie (that I wish focused more on the career dilemmas it tackled than romance). Tracee Ellis Ross, Dakota Johnson, Ice Cube, Kelvin Harrison Jr, Zoe Chao, June Diane Raphael, Diplo, Eddie Izzard, and Bill Pullman star, Nisha Ganatra directs.
“The Vast of Night” is a sci-fi film that feels like a very polished student film (not that that’s a terrible thing but temper your expectations).
Finally “The Great” highlights the rise of Catherine the Great and is pretty crude and entertaining. Elle Fanning, Nicholas Hoult, Phoebe Fox, Charity Wakefield, Gwilym Lee, Adam Godley, and Sebastian de Souza star.
